LITTLE BLACK LACE DRESS

There are usually only two ways how I come to making another piece of clothes: either there is this crazy nothing-to-wear-for-this-event thing, or I get heavily inspired by some look or picture, or fabrics, or some other random daily things.

When it happens I would love to learn and get used always first to sketch my idea and only then to actually make it. It might seem as unnecessary loss of time, but I would really like to develop my drawing skills. Moreover, while drawing I have to think about the idea in more details and I get better vision of the expected result. But as it often happens I'm too impatient to spend this middle step and I start to sew right away.

That's pretty much the case of a little-black-lace dress I made some time ago. I just found the fabrics in the shop and the idea about the lace dress came to my mind. As lace itself takes a lot of attention I chose a simple, straight cut and long sleeves. I promise to show more of it in near future.

THE GREEN DRESS

One of the worst things for girls at their happy graduation day is standing near a girl wearing the same dress. For my graduation I decided to take a risk and make the dress myself, hoping that luck would be on my side and the dress would be pretty. In the end the dress was pretty good - simple, but nice, but the main thing that there were none of copy-cats around, as Zara still somehow does not copy my dresses yet. :)

A year later my friend Madara asked me to make a dress for her graduation. It is not a usual thing that I sew for somebody else than myself, but in this case Madara was pretty explicit in what she wanted, so it seemed doable and I agreed.

First, I made the sketch to be sure that I understood right what she wanted and several days later the dress was ready. Another simple, but cute dress, isn't it?

BURGUNDY DRESS

For me it has always been that the best motivation comes from a good reason. No wonder that upcoming Homecoming event in my university I graduated 2 years ago worked as a perfect motivation to make a new dress. Since the time I made the first dress my most favourite silhouette of this part of the closet is the one with tight upper part and full skirt part, as it is so feminine! This time the idea was to add full and puffy short sleeves to the well known and beloved shape of the dress. In order to understand how I want the final result to look like and practice my sketching skills I started with a drawing. The final dress was finished several hours before going out (as usually) and I'm quite happy with the result. But even better it was to meet all the guys from study years, you can also meet one of them, Karl, in the picture below.

Have a great weekend!
